Dense dark garnet hue.  Dark savoury aromas, slightly smokey with wild strawberries, herbs, forest floor, game meat. Dense chalky texture with mocha, game meat, dark savoury fruit flavours. Mineral, fine compact powdery tannins give the wine depth and a juicy acid core offers tension and length. A wine that will age gracefully and suit venison, duck or a roasted vegetable dish.

North Canterbury

Hand-picked and fermented with wild yeasts in open top fermenters, 100% destemmed. Aged in seasoned French oak barrels for 12 months before being racked and returned to barrel on light lees for a further 5 months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered in September 2025.

Predominantly from the Good Family vineyard on Georges Road, Waipara planted on Glasnevin gravels and a small amount from the Pyramid Valley Waikari Vineyard planted at 10,000 vines/ha in 2000-2002 on clay limestone soils.
