Aotearoa New Zealand Fine Wine Estates is the realisation of that dream through three premium wineries: Smith & Sheth, Pyramid Valley and Lowburn Ferry. Producing wine from four of New Zealand’s main winegrowing regions, Marlborough, Hawke’s Bay, Central Otago and North Canterbury, these wineries all have an ambition of making some of the world’s greatest cool climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc.

The wines of Pyramid Valley are born in the dramatic limestone and clay derived soils and slopes of our Waikari and Low Burn estates, home to some of the most profound Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines in the world.

150 years in the making.
Deep in New Zealand’s South Island and surrounded by mountain ranges, river valleys and hillsides is Central Otago, a region whose extreme climate rewards careful site selection with wines of great intensity and finesse.
All Pyramid Valley, Smith & Sheth and Lowburn Ferry vineyards and wineries are certified under New Zealand’s Sustainable Winegrowing Program (SWNZ), however as a group of fine wine producers, we set ourselves higher benchmarks.
Growing fine wine hand-in-hand with nature. In our vineyards we are developing a systematic mindset, a way of thinking, that continually challenges us to think in a connected way.
Across three of New Zealand's most distinctive wine regions — Hawke's Bay, North Canterbury and Central Otago — our vineyards Omahu, Waikari and Low Burn are each shaped by unique soils, climates and the people who farm them.
Our Omahu vineyard sits within the youngest ancient riverbed of the famous Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing District. The incredibly stony soils of the ancient bed of the Ngaruroro River and this warm location create perfect conditions for ripe, full-bodied and gravelly-textured Syrah, Cabernet and Tempranillo grapes, and soft flavoured, stony textured Chardonnay. This is the home for Smith & Sheth.
Waikari in North Canterbury is a unique site where rich, rocky, limestone and clay marl soils sit on high-altitude north and east facing slopes. This vineyard laid the foundation for Pyramid Valley.
Low Burn is blessed with some of the oldest vines in Central Otago, and where more than 150 years of sensitive human cultivation, market gardening and irrigation has created soils of rare distinction. Low Burn is Pyramid Valley's Central Otago home, and the founding vineyard for Lowburn Ferry.
Our own estates are complemented by a carefully chosen collection of grower vineyards across Hawke's Bay, Marlborough and North Canterbury. Built on decades of trusted relationships, these exceptional sites allow us to select the finest parcels of fruit, completing a collection of wines that speaks to the diversity of Aotearoa.
