The Syrah and Viognier grapes were hand picked together in the early morning to retain freshness and quality, and immediately wholebunch pressed at the winery to ensure only gentle extraction of tannin and lightness of colour. After cold settling the wine was coolfermented in stainless steel with a cultured yeast and left on lees. This approach has allowed us to produce a wine with brilliant naturalsalmon colour, light fine tannins, delicacy of flavour, with complexity and breadth coming from lees contact. A serious winemakingapproach for a serious dry rosé.

Sourced from the Two Terraces Vineyard in the Mangatahi district where vines grow on the classic loam soils over red metal gravel. Clones 470 on 3309c rootstock and a small portion of low cropping Viognier. Canopies thinned and open to optimise light interception on the bunches and hand leaf-plucking to make the most of the warm (but not too warm) days. Managed to SWNZ standards with a nil residue spray programme.

Beautiful almost perfect rich salmon colour. Lovely aromas of strawberry, cream and meringue, fresh peaches and a hint of flowers and spice. Fresh, nutty entry, open array of strawberries, mandarin and orange zest with a lovely creamy texture and soft but balanced acidity and a long rice paper texture to finish. Absolutely delicious over the next two summers, wherever you are.
