Renowned for its beautiful birdsong, the korimako (bellbird) is found in forests throughout New Zealand and the inspiration for the original name of this Waipara vineyard planted in 2002. These vines grow on gentle east-facing slopes and clay loam soils, producing grapes with dark, ripe flavours and incredible complexity. Hand-harvested Pinot Noir fermented with wild yeasts, then cellared for 18 months in French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.

North Canterbury

Hand picked and hand sorted in the winery. 33% whole bunch, uninoculated ferment in wooden cuves for 3 weeks. Pressed and settled prior to aging in french oak barrels, 33% new for 18 months. Bottled unfined and unfiltered in September 2021.

Biogro certified vineyard planted on an east facing slope on Mackenzies Road in Waipara. Clone 5 Pinot Noir from the Course-Choi vineyard (previously Porters/Bellbird), planted in 2004 Domett Clay soils.
Harvested: 18 March 2020.

Vibrant crimson hue. Brooding complex aromas of lifted florals, red berries and a gamey, earthy complexity.Vibrant palette of fresh berries with an earthy, mouth-filling structure that coats the mouth. Sinewy tannins drive the wine with a long saline minerally finish.
